an illustration I did a while ago for a contest held in Indonesia. a conceptual art based on a legend called "Si Pitung" from batavia/betawi. It's a story about justice and freedom.

Thanks to my pal for helping me a lot :iconosadha-w: :XD:
and all references I used on this illustration :)

-- Maybe my art cannot represent their legend, but I hope I can represent their spirit now and later ;)

*update: Thanks for the DD =D

I know you probably get a whole lot of comments on your works and don't have time to thoroughly read them all, but I write music. I'm starting up a new project very soon where I take art from dA that inspires me and write a piece of music to match it, almost like film score for still images. Of all the pieces of art that I've favourited and stored, I can actually hear music to this one and I can really connect with it. May I use it in my project? I'd write a piece of music, then stick it and the picture on youtube (and of course include links to your dA account and any other website related to your work that this picture is on). I totally understand if you don't want me to but it would be super cool if I could. This is one of the pieces of art that I could hear most!

The background is incredible. The fighting is also incredible, the anatomy and expressions. Well deserved DD.

Freedom yes but justice, eh, that's debatable.

After all, those colonial soldiers might have families and children too right?

Whenever there is conflict and death there is PAIN on BOTH SIDES.

It's a damn shame really. To quote Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi, "why are we all so damn stupid"?

Well it is but people that the soldiers killed is more than just a man who have family cause the picture is about a colonized country that tried to defend their self ,so if say something like that, like a five year old we can respose "they started it" .

To quote Kosh as G'kar's father from Babylon 5: "It no longer matters who started it. It only matters who is suffering."

Well then you can say "who suffered more."

It doesn't matter. Suffering is suffering.
